my first car
I thought I would share a photo of my first car, (that"s me in the peddle car) and that is my 64 F-85 (330, 2bbl, three on the tree) in the garage. My parents purchased it used in 65 and I was born a year later. I came home form the hospital, after I was born, in the Olds, street raced it with my father during my early teens and learned everything mechanical as a kid, wrenching on her next to my Pop. The 64 is mine now, I still spend every weekend with my father wrenching, cruising, occasionally breaking a few traffic laws (and a lot of parts), 43 years later. FYI she now has a 68 Toronado 455, cam, intake, 750 Demon, 4 speed and a 3:42 Type O posi out back.

Nice peddle car, if that thing looks like an Olds then my buddy has one right now that his kids used to ride in...You're wearing a hoodie...so you grew up to be a hoodlum

That's cool.
Looks like a Murray pedal car, they looked a lot like '59 Pontiacs. The older ones looked sort of like early 50's Oldsmobiles. I have a hand cranked siren for the fire chief variant.![]() |

I loved the peddle car, it seems to me that form day one I was always a gearhead. Tonka, Hot Wheels, Eldon 1/24 slot cars, Matchbox City, Cox powered vans, go carts, dirt bikes and alot of muscle cars once I turned 15! People say the the muscle car hayday was in the 60's, I say it was the 80's, where else could an 18year old buy an all original but clapped-out RAIII 1969 GTO for 1500.00 or a 72 W-30 daily driver for $350.00?
My Pop is 72, walks 5 miles a day and currently is converting his 35' ford from a Muncie 4 speed to a T-5 5 speed so he can get better "gas mileage".

He's a master machinest, worked in the prototype department at Diebold making ATM parts. I found anothe photo of my olds, I would guess around 1967, check out the Reese hitch for pulling a camper.

That's a sharp car, I had a neighbor with one of those. You can't beat sentimental value. I'd like to find a 69 Pont. GP someday cuz I grew up in one of those. First I gotta get my rig painted and revived. Take care of that one.

Those wheels are vintage Torq-Thrust knock offs from the mid 1970's, I think Appliance, not sure, they say "made in Japan" in the castings. They are 14x7's, same wheel on all 4 corners. I got 2 at a swap meet for $80.00 and the other 2 on e bay for @100.00. I polishd them and painted the spokes with a dark grey engine paint. I couldn't run them without the "narrow track" disc break conversion from ECI, them move the front wheels in 1" on each side over the stock 68-72 disc's and half an inch over the stock drum set up. Thes are a must have for a 64 to 67 A body.
