what a find!!
This is way out of left field for an olds forum buuuut i just picked up a 70 galaxie for 250 bucks. At first when i tell people they think oh yeah another fixer upper, yeah she needs air in the rear tires and a battery. The old man parked it after his wife died ten years ago. He comes into my workplace about three times a week to make copies and i asked him about it, he said its to big for him to drive and his kids hate that car so he said for 250 bucks i can have it! the body is straight no rust and the driver seat has normal wear. For 250 there was no way i can turn it down. Hopefully this next week i will bring her home and get her roadworthy. I know the olds is going to get jealous but i think she'll understand.

Yeah i have always just seen the car there and never really thought about it, every so often i would see one of the kids working on it. The only thing missing under the hood is two a/c lines. It has a 351 with a c6.

Or you could ask them
How to put a 350 chevy in it. That really seems to get people fired up.

A 460 would fall right into that thing, and like the Olds engines are torque monsters and low revvers.

A 351 will be just fine in there. SportsRoof too, good find for $250.
Just be aware it's probably not going to be any easier to find stuff for it than your 62. Late 60s big Fords are terribly underappreciated. At least the parts won't go for Torino money. I passed on a 69 Cobra formal roof a few years back because stuff was so expensive.

There is a shortage of decent parts but for the amount of work the car doesnt need i'm not to worried about it. I am just blown away at the condition, once i get it home and post up pics of the interior, engine, body etc. i think most people will be in awe. This was really one of those right place right time once in a lifetime deals.

Wow, this brings back the memories of the first car I remember riding in...
![]() My mom had a 1970 Galaxie 500 4 door and I remember it fondly. It was white, too. I remember sitting on the floor in the back with my legs in "Indian style" so that meant it was HUGE! The back seat was like a couch. Hers was loaded and I still have the service book for it. It had either the 429 or 427 (I would have to look to be sure). She traded it in in 78 for a Pinto; I am still mad at her for doing that as i would love to have that 500 now instead of the Pinto (despite its good reliability...) Post some more pics some time like inside... I sure miss that car. ![]()

score!
these cars are still out there. So what if it's a Ford. That was a steal. And for the price of a thrashed Pontiac Formula steering wheel, you get a whole car - a two-door fastback nonetheless.
Good job and congrats!
