Part Under Rear Glass??

I have a 70 Cutlass S and can't seem to identify the part under the rear window. Looking down into the bottom of the rear window it is the metal piece that seems to be ballooned up under the glass at the back of the rear deck and runs the entire length from left to right. I have a parts guide, body manual, and service manual but can't seem to pinpoint exactly what this piece is. Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

All I've ever heard it called is a garnish or finishing moulding. It's different in that it's usually welded in as part of the body structure.

Yea, its solid and it should have smaller pieces (plastic) that are removable at each end.

I hav'nt heard of anyone repairing this before....I've never heard the subject come up or what its called.

Rocketraider mentioned that it's welded in. I don't know about a 70 Cutlass, but on my 66 Jetstar 88 it was part trunk filler panel. I repaired the area due to rust damage in the rear wind channel.

Appreciate all the input but still no definite ID on what the piece is. Anyone else got any info?

I have a '69 Supreme, and this was the only area of rot on the whole car when I got it other than a couple of minor rear lower quarter two inch patches. I searched high and low for a replacement panel for this area and only found it for (I think) 71-72 Cutlass, I will see if I can dig up where I saw that. I have a few pics of the repair work I had to do, kind of a hack job in some people's eyes I guess, but looks real nice to me now.
I'll share are a few before and after pics of how I pieced it all together, then installed it. Keep in mind that all of it was hand made bending it on my bench corner and vise, by a VERY novice "bodyman?"/hobbyist.
Here is a link to all the pics...
