Bondo breaker

I was wondering if anyone has ever put bondo on a door more than 1/4'' thick before. My door skin has been separated for a year now but it wasn't a big deal once i grounded it out & used a lil bit of industrial high rise window caulk on the bottom of the door. but now My neighbor backed into my 85 2 door right in the MIDDLE of the door resulting in the bottom of the skin to pull out from the body of the car about 3 inches. I cut off about 7 inches from the bottom of the outer skin, put in some new metal and pulled the dent, but It took a little over 1/4 '' of filler to straighten my seam. I fear it won't make it through a Chicago winter being slammed 5 times a day. I used Dynatron Dyna De lite filler. Any thoughts other than the obvious get a new door?
