Wheels for disc brake conversion
Wheels for disc brake conversion
I have been reading many articles on this and Im not clear on whether or not my ss II wheels (14x6) will work with disc brakes. The car is a 69 and currently has power front drum. Id like to convert it to front disc, but I like the wheels. It sounds by most accounts that If I convert I will need new wheels .Is this true?
What's the car? If it's a Cutlass/442 you may need to go to the SSII 14X7's
The easiest way would be if you know someone with Disc's try bolting on your wheels. I know the 1968 14X6 SSI's won't fit disc but I'm not sure if that's the same as what you have.

Check out my photobucket site, http://s90.photobucket.com/albums/k257/2blu442/ on page two I have some different wheels shown. The 1968 14X6 won't fit disc, but the newer 1970's-80's 14X6 and 14X7 will, plus the 15X7 will. Also, it would help if you posted the city and state you live in, who knows there may be another Olds guy right across town who could show you wheels in person if he knew where you were.
Thanks, Ill change my profile, I live in Lewiston NY (near niagara falls). Id really like to find some 15x7 SS IIs that would work. Id have some better choices for tires and I think theyd look nicer too. I was just hoping to avoid having to spend 6-700 bucks on the conversion kit and then have to cough up money for rims and tires at the same time.
