repairing metal on glass window

Hello readers,
Any input and ideas would be appreciated.
Does anyone know how to repair the metal channel at the bottom of the glass windows of a 1964 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88.The glass itself is in good shape but the metal is rusted out so I would like to re-use the glass. The mechanical riser is in turn ,welded to this piece.I tried a few fabricating shops, but they didnt seem too interested in the job.
Thanks

Post pics of what it looks like with the glass out or even in if you have not removed it yet.

It would be easier to get a good channel from another similar car and install that than to repair a rusted channel, but it could be done!!

Finding a good one is the problem. Any 63-64 GM B-body of similar bodystyle can supply the part. Starfire/Jetstar I/Grand Prix do not interchange with the regular 2-door hardtop.
