Repro / N.O.S. Body Mounts

I'm about to lower my "62 Starfire onto it's Chassis after Twenty years and I thought by now I would be able to find Body Mounts. I haven't been able to, so could someone make a suggestion as I've looked in all directions.

You could always contact http://www.energysuspension.com/

They make body mounts for a number of cars so may be able to point you in the right direction.

hello chequenman
Long time no see
I was talking to another member at the NATS and what he did for his starfire was check into Metro rubber under Buick and he matched them their.
His other comment was to torque them to the required ft/lb ,his car looked straight and square to the eye.
Hope this is of some help, good luck.

I measured up all my Mounts and Cushions and then went to Metro's site and couldn't find anything that matched but saw a couple of pieces that were close but no Cigar. I sure didn't want to put in mismatched thickness's and stress the body being a Conv. and all, so I'm really looking for as close to the "Real McCoy" as possible not that Walter Brennan has anything to do with this "Resto". I also checked "Steele Rubber" and no Cigar there either !!!

I measured the original rubber cushions for my '66 98 then went to the Steele catalog and searched all cars until I found a match. Not very scientific but it works. My big problem was the metal cones that go inside the cushions. Some were too rusted away to re-use and nowhere in the country knew what I was talking about when I asked. I tried a friend's son's junkyard in Florida but all he could come up with was an ambulance and the mounts were different. I finally found a couple in a nearby junkyard and had to make workable replacements from various size washers. It worked but was not ideal. For some reason, junkyards don't think about some of these parts being extremely rare and just send them to the crusher.

Hey Chequenman, Did you try PST (Performance Suspension Technology) ? Their catalog seems to have some good suspension parts, both OEM-style rubber and polygraphite bushings, etc. Good luck! Jim

Hey Bigolds... I've done what you suggest in the G M lineup but I'll take a look at Ford, Chrysler, and what ever else I can find at Steele, as you never know what other Manufacturer is using that could maybe fill my needs as to Square, Round, Large hole, Small hole, and various thickness.

Thanx for the info but I don't seem to see any solutions at PST. I was getting all blurry eyed going through all the info and it's getting late, so I'll see if I get anyone else that has had similar experiences as I'm not the only guy that's done a frame off and wanted to upgrade the Mounts.

If you can use the steel pieces over again and its just the rubber components that you need to update chech out canada rubber group inc in oshawa on marwood dr,you can get a sheet of the correct rubber and I can show you how to cut them out into the correct shape.
call me and we can talk about it,or have your people call my people and they can do lunch
