"A TRUE SURVIVOR" What's it worth?

"A True Survivor"

I have a all Original 442 with 37,700 miles.* This car has been sitting since 1975.* I found this in a persons garage a couple towns up from me.** This was a dream come true.* To find a 442 untouched for so many years.* I am the third owner.
The specs are:* 1968 442 sports coupe (production for the sports coupe 4,282* of that I think there were only around 1900 or so built with a 4 speed)
Built in Linden NJ
Numbers matching Rocket 400 (350hp) with a M21 CR 4 speed tranny with Hurst shifter.
3.91*POSI "O" axle rear
The exterior is Nocturne Blue Poly with a Parchment Vynal top. The interior is*parchment white.
Bucket seats, AM radio with a power antena. This is a Non ac car
The Body plate marking are

06C C08 U75
ST 68 34477 BL 286 Body
TR 947 B90 E6 Paint

My question is How much is this worth? Here are some pics.

That thing is georgeous. My favorite year AND color. Love the fender stripes the most. Who cares what it's worth. You would be stupid to sell it.

Just making sure what I have it insured for is correst. Sorry to get any ones hope up.

Man... Honestly I think you could probably pull at 50 grand for that car the way things are right now. Maybe even up to 80. People are nuts.

By the way, I'd burn that picture with the New York license plate in it, before people start looking it up and schemeing to rob you.

Do you have all of the paperwork? Build sheets, dealership sales receipts, repair bills, etc?

A real nice one by me sold for around 30k, but it had been repainted and re drivetrained.

Definitely a beautiful car and rare find.. The only downfall (to some) is that it's a post car.. I can't bring myself to ever buy a post. Even my 68 El Camino SS doors drove me nuts because of the frame around them....

Still, a real beauty!

I would have that car professionally appraised, then have insured with Grundy for agreed value. Grundy is a very reputable company and the premiums are really low. The only drawback is that you can't use the car for regular driving.

Thanks everyone. I already have it covered with Hagerty. I'm just trying to find out the current base line prices for such a car. In this crazy market prices changes very quick and want to make sure that I stay current with it.

You need an appraisal on paper to set value and also you need a new set of springs on that car. The springs have settled from years of sitting

I checked out manheimgold.com and they have a regular hardtop valued for more then a sports coupe. I was thinking since there were fewer made that they would be worth more. I guess I was wrong, or was I

They are worth less money because less people like them. That's it and that's all.
Rare does not mean desirable.

Joe P. on this board had a good analogy.
There were fewer cars made with green interiors, but people aren't furiously fighting to have it.

Thats not always the case. There were less Convertible made then the Hardtops and the convertibles bring in more money then the Holiday coupe.

convertibles are an exception, not the rule. If you had a green 'vert with green interior and there were only five made for that year, it would still be worth less than say a red one with black interior that had a run of 1000 cars.
