70 442 convertible on ebay...read the fine print & check the vin!

Hope the bidders on this one read the fine print where it says "reproduction" 442. $34,000 buy it now seems a little high for a clone?

VIN: 342670E13279
VIN# 342670E13279

"a reproduction of an American icon" = definetely skirting around the issue. "Reproduction" or "clone" should be in the title... Yes, 34K is high for a clone.
As for an actual "shop" to be doing this is a bit unethical...
A nice looking car though...
Anyone care to nit-pick and find the details he forgot??

When i bought my 72, the ad title was "442 clone" and I paid maybe 1k more than a regular Cutlass.
A clone is okay, but to convince others it is real is not...

Many thanks... To me, it makes the most difference in driving and enjoying it! The satisfaction in my mind is another, knowing I did it (and lived to talk about it!)

Restored???
Stevie Wonder could even see that the car just has a quick paint job and a new top.
I think he could of lined those stripes up from the doors to the quarters and painted the engine and trunk a lot better too.

Why do they never have pics of the underbody?

Interesting. It has all the right parts, but that motor has clearly been apart as some time and the A/C alternator bracket when the car is heater-only always raises a red flag. Is that the correct shifter handle? Car also has the wrong windshield washer tank.

As for the clone, WHY OH WHY is it necessary to paint W-30 stripes if you're not going to add the W-30 emblems? (yeah, this is my new rant )

It seems to also be missing the plastic around the bucket seat bottoms.

That alternator position is the first thing I noticed, (well, except for the light blue engine paint, which made me wonder if the internals are correct). Then I came right to this site to see if anyone had seen that.
Also, the seller never actually says the engine is numbers matching.... and at $30,000?

Because some people complain about WHERE they are mounted on the fender, they prolly figured it is better to just leave 'em off...
In other words, they haven't a clue... I hope this thing never sells at this price.

Shouldn't it also have red inner fenders?

Red inner fenders are a W30 only feature. The engine paint color is what most of the Olds 70-72 455 spray paint looks like these days.
