My fiance even wanted it, but tuition was due for kids school. I didn't even call since I didn't have the extra cash. It would be depressing to hear the guy say, "its still here..."..lol

I just got off the phone with the owner. It's still there, motor spins but won't run. All origional [including major rust] Someone with body experience should snap this baby up. All the docs are there with the car.

I would too, but I think it would be an M20, not an M22.

I don't know. I'm only going by what the owner said.
Would you care to elaborate.

The M22 was the infamous "rock crusher" close ratio Muncie 4-speed transmission and for Oldsmobile was only available on on 1971 442s. The last year for the M21 close ratio Muncie 4-speed was 1970. The M20 (wide ratio Muncie) was all that was left for 4-speeds in '72 and '73. And that was the last of the Muncie 4-speeds for Oldsmobile.

What's the diff between a M-22 close ratio and an M-21 close ratio?

Tanks [as in rock crusher]

The M22 "rock crusher" got its name for 2 reasons. One, it was noisy, two, it was strong!
It had helical cut gears in it that made it stronger, but as the "expense" of it being much more noisy. Was used more by Ch*vy in HP applications.
The noise? I'd call it "whine and grind".
Combine that with the double clutch that was offered ('71 only too), and you have a combo that make the '70 W30 gang envious.
