W30 hood

I was on the web last night and found the factory style W30 hood. Factory fiberglass on top metal on bottom. They were around 800.00. Now I can't find the site. Anyone know about the site?

Thornton makes them, but they aren't $800. I don't know of any factory style hoods that go for $800...I could be wrong.

OK, what gives? How do you get fiber over metal for that price?

I think you are mixed up with the Fibreconcepts hood. It is a high quality fibreglass upper bonded to a really nicely done fibreglass bottom with Metal inserts for the hood and springs. It is 799.00 + tax & shipping.

Does this site look familiar? CHA 442 http://www.fiberpartsconcepts.com/1285404.html

The hood is actually called a W25 hood. It was a standard feature on W30 cars. The W30 means a lot more than a hood.

AGK, the one you're looking at from Tamraz is the same one sold by Parts Place and other vendors. All fibreglass. If you go that route, you'll also need light weight hood springs. The all fibreglass hoods generally don't have enough rigidity in the front to use the stock hood latching system, so you will only have the chrome lock downs. Those hoods have their issues with fitment too. Have you checked out VFN? http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/site.htm Several of the guys here have used them and are very pleased with overall fit and finish.

VFN OAI hood

Wow, that VFN hood looks like a good deal! But I've got questions: Is it all fiberglass or does it have the metal frame? Can you use the the regular hood spring or do you need the "lightweight" springs? Can you use the center hood latch?

Ok, the answers are:
1. Yes it's all fibreglass
2. No metal frame
3. Lightweight springs only-it's not reinforced for reg springs and is much lighter.
4. No structural support for center hood latch. (You can use your old hood and bond the steel front subframe to the front. Steve (ah64pilot) did that with his.
