my question is can i use a olds 455 harmonic balancer for my olds 425.thanks

Some people say you shouldn't interchange balancers between engines, but in my experience all modern Olds v-8's use the same balancer. The factory parts book only listed one service part # for all 350 and 455 engines the last time I looked. The aftermarket manufacturers only make one balancer for all Olds engines. I'd say compare the 2 original balancers, if they look the same (counterweights the same size & in the same place) it should work fine. 'Course I'm no engineer. Maybe you should check with Joe Mondello (www.mondellotwister.com) he'd know for sure.

I recently went looking for a harmonic balancer for my 66 425 and learned that the harmonic balancer with the half moons on it was only produced in 64,66 and 67. No one could tell me if a 455 balancer would be adequate so I found a rebuilt balancer with half moons and used it.
