394 CID-Timing marks

Changing the timing chain on my 1961 394 cid along with the sprockets. Can anyone help me out with the timing marks. When I removed the cover I had both marks at 12 o'clock. And I think they should be cam at 6 and the crank at 12. Please help. I almost have this bad boy on the road can't wait. Need to make it to the TRR. Thanks in advance.

Except for the position of the distributor, there is no difference.

If you rotate the crank, one revolution, from 12 to 12, the cam gear will move from 12 to 6.

If the engine was running before you started, and you did not remove the distributor or turn the crank/cam, that is the way it should go back together.

Worst case = the dist will be 180° out of phase.
