coolant light on

i have a 1965 olds dynamic 88 w/ 425 2 bbl. it has been in barn for 20 yrs and i have been putting it back together for last 2 yrs. i recently put in a new thermostat and water temp sensor. when i started the car today the "cool" light was on on the dash. first time its come on. does anyone no why it would come on. and what i can do to fix it. thanks chris

It's telling you the engine is cold, as in not warmed up yet. Or that's what it means on my 66 Jetstar. Should go out when the engine warms up. Do worry if the "Hot" light comes on.

On my 69 Delta 88, the Cold light stays on till the motor has warmed up, no worries!
