Old TRW pistons?

i have a set of old TRW pistons that are .40 over for a 455. if i build an engine should i use them or get new ones. they were in an engine that only ran 3000 miles and they had the bore a little tight in one cylinder and hurt that piston. i have a new one from the same era (early 80s) that is the same piston. so i have 7 used and one new one. i figure that they would be fine but wonder if there is something i don't know. i will have them balanced when i build a new engine if that matters.

i guess my biggest question would be, are new pistons better than old pistons as far as technology goes. on some stuff older is better and other stuff newer is better.

Specify which pistons you are referring to. I am sure a few builders here would be able to comment.
