I was looking for a few different opinions...I'm not sure if I should have my original carb rebuilt or if a replacement like the Streetmaster Rochester Quadrajet Carburetor found at OPGI would be a better option. just from talking to some of my buddies I've heard arguments for both. What do you guys think? I have a 1970 cutlass sx W32(all original). Thanks.

Chuck

Depends on your purpose, but if it is indeed an "all original" 1970 SX W-32, then count yourself very lucky and keep it "all original".

I can recommend a GREAT rebuilder that specializes in Olds. Contact WBlue70@aol.com

Rebuilt, rejetted, and rebushed my 71 QJet and I'm VERY happy.

Whatever you do, stay away from OPGI. Lots of BAAAAAAAAAD experiences with them by lots of Olds folks.

Good luck and congratulations!

C.J.

thanks for the help. "All original" might not be the correct term the car has the ram air hood and ram air package on it but that was a dealer installed option done for the orginal owner in 1970 and from what I've been told the original owner had a W30 intake put on the car by the dealer also. So I guess it's technically not factory original but it is a genuine w32 with circa 1970 dealer mods.

Sounds pretty lame...better sell it to me before you get embarressed! LOLOLOL

Seriously, sounds like a great car. Again, my two pieces of advise are (1) keep the original QJet and (2) keep away from OPGI.

That's my advise, anyway.

I hear ya... OPGI has been kicked to the curb and I will stay with the original carb. Thanks for the help, I've contacted Dan (at the email address you provided earlier) and I might be sending my carb down to him, but it is possible that I find someone around here (here being chicago) to do the rebuild, I'm still up in the air on that.

Thanks again for the help.

Chuck

Chuck, if you don't use Dan, be sure that whoever you use will re-bush the baseplate as texasred mentioned. That is very important for good cold starting and streetability. Good luck on the venture....
