hey guys i wanted to know if it was possible to switch from the 324 i have know to a 442 ci . since parts are way harder to get for my existing engine, i want something more common. in the meantime i will put my 324 to the side and built it from scratch. will the 442 fit right in without having to manifacture mounts , and what tranny would be good?

What model olds? Anything is possible, but due to the rarity of the442c.i. engine, you would be better off using a 350 or 455.

I'm sorry if I am wrong, or sound mean, but Olsmobile never produced a 442 cubic inch engine. They manufactured a car with that nomenclature for a while though. You are probably thinking about an engine from a 442 car. Like Mike said, a 350 or 455 would be more probable.

The '55 year model is one of my favorites for style. I saw Budd Rogers '55 Holiday Hardtop in an issue of Rod & Custom last summer, beautiful car, green on green on green, wide whitewalls, very slick. If you can post some pictures it would be nice.
