425...improving oiling

Greetings all,
I am in the process of rebuilding a 425.... well with help from a mechanic friend. I have read that the 425 had small capacity oil pan and would suck the pan dry at 5000rpm. Any truth to this? Will a deeper pan, windage tray, and higher volume oil pump benefit (I am not looking for a 6000rpm motor, just one that will last and lubricate properly)?

The 425 is no differant from any other Olds engine as far as oiling goes.....The stock pump and system is good for the daily driver and mild performance use.....It has been said if you use a high volume oil pump with a stock oiling system it is possible to suck the oil pan dry at higher sustained RPM's....I dont know if this is true but sounds logical.
