Hello olds country, I have joined this forum because I have recently been apointed sales manager of the dirt car lot. (My father in law has owned a plumbing company for 25 years and he has been parking ragged out work trucks in his pasture for years.) The most interesting ride in the pasture is a 73 442. I posted a add on a free sale site and my phone rang til it smoked. I then took the add off and decided to find out what the big deal is. Where do I start on trying to find out what I have. Can someone direct me to somewhere where I can decode the vin and tag. Thanks in advanced. Has anyone ever saw a stack of trailer wheels and tires the size of a 3 bdr house. All at the dirt car lot.

 

Post it here and we can tell you what you have. You can leave off the last 6 digits if you wish; they're only the sequential VIN and don't tell anything about the engine or bodystyle, though a very low sequence can also ***** up peoples' ears.

Also post what's on the body data plate underhood. That one can REALLY tell us a lot about a 73 442. Suffice to say if there's a U or V in the VIN and an M20 on the data plate, it can excite an Olds guy. A U with factory air is icing on the cake, provided everything that matches the codes is still there.

But I expect you were also getting a lot of calls from demo-derby and donk types. The 70s cars are very attractive to them for some reason.

Do you have axles to go with all them trailer wheels? Could be a lucrative side business if you have some time to build trailer frames...

 

The vin # is 3G37UR and there is A/C. No compressor and the aluminum line is cut and crimped. The trailer wheels and tires are from equipment trailers.

 

The tag is corroded from pine straw but here goes. ST 73 3AG37 R 044903 BDY next line TR 947_AN 42 42 PNT next line 10A_ 044903 030635
