1970 442 W30 Hood - Body Man Special

I have this hood in my basement and I need to get rid of it. I've been told it's a real one but before I go in depth it is damaged, a lot. It was in a wreck but it is repairable, I had it inspected by a reputable shop in the area who was going to do the work. Instead of getting it fixed I came across a repop for the car off ebay for $400 so I went that route instead. Anyway, the owner of the car told me he came across the a real W30 442 in a barn that had been completely wrecked, half the trunk was practically push into the backseat back in the '80s. Anyway he stripped the car and cloned a Cutlass S to make my car. The hood came off this wrecked W30. My car is long gone but I'm sitting on this hood. I will post pictures as soon as I have time. Since it is an original, and the nice ones go for a few grand and the repops $700+ I would like to post it for $250 obo. I'll help you move it and load it but come get it and for $250 it's yours. The hood still has the screen on it and the hockeysticks but I doubt the hockeysticks are salvageable. Let me know if any of you guys are interested. It's located 45 miles SW of Chicago.

Metal frame. The frame isn't damaged too bad at all. It's mainly the fibergalss top. It was in a front end fender bender.

Sounds fixable , the important part is where the hood bolts to the hinges...

No, I think he was just expessing happiness for both of you thinking Mike had sold his hood, and you had found your hood...even though it seems you didn't get it. I did see a couple of very nice '70 hoods for sale at the Nats swap meet this past weekend....they aren't cheap though...

Thanks Erik ! I wasn't quite sure what to make of it?! Unfortunately, I did not find my hood. I did cave and buy the Partsplace metal/fiberglass hood because I was jammed for for funds and wanted ot get the car finished. I'm still wondering if I should have gone the extra $1500 for the Thorton but that's water under the bridge. Hopefully I will be able to find a decent hood for around $1500 and if so, I'll be happy. until then, working on getting the strip kit on and the headliner installed! From there all that's left is the front & glass back and I'm back on the road again ! maybe next weekend !?! If I do, I'll post some pics !!

regards

Car's been painted and close to being finished ! I'll get some close up shots of the hood (upper and lower) next time I'm at the shop.

Those pics look really good! Can't wait to see the car all finished up. Are you putting the rallye350 striping package on it?

About the hood? One of the guys (can't remember who) also had a fitment issue with the rear being a little too high. It was suggested to him the he could probably shim the rear part of the fender up a bit to help line it up. That would also mean re-doing the hinges so it sits right.
