1966 bucket seat rebuild project underway...

New Legendary covers... New ACI seat buns... New hogring pliers, pile of hogrings, couple yards of burlap... Here we go!

Pulled the seats out tonight, inspected my floor... Very happy to report super solid...

Should take me a couple weeks of goofing around on it in the evenings (i've got a 9 month old son, so my hobby time is limited)... I'll post pics and details as i go.

It'll be a few years before it gets any better with time, or finances. Congrats on the little one, is he out there "helping" yet?

Seats are done...

Seats-before.jpg - Seats-After.jpg

Rebuild-drivers-seat.jpg - Rebuild-pass-seat.jpg

There are a few wrinkles i need to try and work out with a heat gun, but for my first attempt i'm pretty happy.

First seat took me quite a while- Lot of Figuring out the right way to attach the bolster listing wires- redid that first one about 3 times before i got it the way i wanted it.

Passenger seat took me about 3 hours total, cranked it right out. Once you know what you are doing it goes fast.

Seats look just like new - great job on doing it yourself!!
How do they feel when you get in 'em? You should sit up a bit higher now with new foam...

Hopefully not too much! These foams are from American Cushion industries (provided by legendary) and i was very impressed with them.

years ago, i was payin to have a set of seats done and the only buns available were the chinese ones From OPG and the seats turned out terrible. I found out later on that everyone knew (except my upholstery guy apparently) that you HAD to trim & shape them before you could put them in.

These were awesome to work with.
Now i just have to get a few hours to put my carpet in and i can put the seats back.

A few hours???
What - No dynamat, custom carpet underlayment, dash rebuild, power window addition, power lock addition, stereo upgrade, door and quarter rebuild........?

<<Ducking for the forum bombshelter...>>

Yea, I got a bit carried away on mine... A torn seat will do that.

Thanks everybody.
I'm very pleased with how they look, recovering a set of buckets has been something i've wanted to try for a while, but have chickened out and paid people the last 3 project cars...

Beer + Hogring pliers might not be a winning combination but i'd be happy to swing over and help!

Neither is beer and a razor knife...
However, beer did allow for some creative thinking to fix my carpet blunder...

Proving once again that beer is the cause of, and solution to 99% of the worlds problems
