A metric will survive behind a 350, but will not take any abuse. I had one behind a chevy 350, and cant tell you how many miles I had on that car before a friend wrapped it around like 15 poles before dropping it into a ditch. needless to say the car was junk before the tranny. I did get on it a bit from time to time, but not much, or hard.

A 350 is a great choice. I would not bother to rebuld a plain 200. A properly built 200R4 would be my choice since it is being pulled anyway. It would be a good way to balance the increased power to fuel econ. With the right effort, you can retain the stock computer if you need to.
