Just got this car a week ago. I traded a 1975 chevy impala 4 door for it. I think I came out on the winning side of the trade. It has a newly rebuilt 355 small block and a newly rebuilt tranny with a 2500 stall converter in it. It runs real good and so far i am happy with the trade. It needs some work on the interior and exterior but i look forward to having many years of fun with it. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking.

 

I hate to break it to you but that is not a 355 Olds engine.

It cost GM some big bucks because they made the same mistake.

Nice Car, and I too think you came out ahead. But Norm is right, that doesn't look like an Oldsmobile engine but more likely a Chev motor. The vast majority of guys on this site would swap that out for an Olds engine, probably a 350 or a 455 depending on if they were partial to small blocks or big blocks. But its your car to enjoy and welcome to the site! John

 

Yeah i know its a chevy motor but it is a lot better than the original 6 cylinder that it came with. When I do a total rebuild I will probably go back to an Olds motor but for now it runs good so it will stay in there for a while. Thanks for the comments.

 

It is for sure a small block chevy. Rember when you go back to the olds, you will need a trans also. The Chebby has a different bolt pattern. Or you need the adapter.
