Hey there, name's Ryan, I'm from all over the states but for now I'm in philly (and correct me if I'm wrong, but the junk yards suck in this area). My last ride was a '71 Cutlass sedan 350 (I know... I know, get a coupe next time, they all say that). Nos. for short, Nostalgia was her name. Poor thing ended up totaled and I had to pick up a daily driver, man was the transition from a real car to this was a bitch, no go power, no attitude, no personality, just blah blah bland. In the process of acquiring another of the same year, make, and model, and I'm pretty excited about that

Only thing I'm a lil wary about is that it's about the only car on the site w/o trunk shots, but I emailed the guy and asked for some. Though I'd like to get a nicer front bench, either split or w/ a folding center arm rest. I'd considered the possibility of maybe taking some swivel bucket seats out of a 73+ model and a center console from a 65 (I love the console mounted tach.), and who knows I might still go for it, but I'm leaning more towards just upgrading the bench seat. First things first though, aquiring said beauty.

It looked clean from the pics, but $11,900 sounds steep to me. Have you checked around for pricing, or is that the car for you? by the way welcome to the site.

Well, I'm not so sure about that. It might be a little high, but if this car was completely restored, I'd say that's a fairly good deal. I would ask to see receipts of the restoration, however, and not just go by their word. I find it interesting that someone took the time to completely restore a 4-door Cutlass. Most just get chopped up for 442 parts and left to die. Kinda cool, actually.

Good ideas both, I just sent an addendum asking about them. It is a little steep, but from what he says the engine and tranny were complete rebuilds and the restoration was top quality. Buddy of mine lives out in Pittsburgh and I'm going to have him take a look and test drive it for me. Honestly though, I don't mind footing the bill for it, I'm in love with the 4 doors and they are HARD to find in good condition

would a '73+ dash fit into a '71? I'm having a hard time tracking down specs. for the interior, anyone know a resource for this?

 

They are totally different, 70-72 are the same. The 70 has the burl type woodgrain 71&72 have the straight type.

 

so I guess the dash would never mount properly in a '71?

 

Nope, it wouldn't. Give All American Classics a call (www.allamericanclassics.com). Just picked up my 68/69 442 dash pad yesterday for real cheap from them.

Additionally, I think there's 4 or 5 70-72 dashes on eBay at the moment.

lol, unfortunately I am, there's always been something about that year that I'm drawn to. But good looking though! I'm keeping an eye on that in case anything with the '71 starts to smell funny

 

I don't think I'd want to try it myself, but anything is possible. I saw a fox body mustang dash in a fat fender car. This was years ago, so I don't remember what. Its your car, do what you want, but I wouldn't. Too much farting around, for an unknown outcome, of course assuming it would fit it would be unique. Another long day can you tell?
