Trailering a 70 442 How wide is it?
Hello to all. I am about to be the proud new owner of a 70 442 with rallye wheels. I will be towing this home (it does run) and I need to know how wide the car is from the outside of the tires. I hope to put it on a car trailer with a deck width of 76 inches. The fenders on the trailer are about 79 inches apart. My main concern is whether or not the tires of the car will fit the channel the deck is on. I would just go measure the car, if it were in the same state...LOL Thanks for any input!

Hi, I didn't answer yesterday because I don't have a good answer and don't want to just make spam posts but since nobody has any ideas I would say this. I have a reference someplace that gives track width for all the Oldsmobiles, I will have to check it tonight. My guess is that you won't have any trouble as the Cutlass is a mid-size car and wasn't really know as a "wide track" car.

1970 442: wheelbase - 112 inches, overall length 203.2 inches, front tread 62.5 inches, rear tread 63 inches. Hope this helps.....
Oh BTW the front tread for a Cutlass/f85 was just 59 inches so apparently there is a difference in the front end geometry of the 442, I didn't know that (unless I read my reference wrong).
