Radiator top plate questions....
Are 70 plates different from the 71-72 plates? Also, I remember there were (2??) different width insulators on them, depending on radiator tank thickness. Would one from a 3 row radiator be correct for a 442?
Thanks for clarifying this for me. |

Radiator top plates
I believe the 69-72 are the same but would have to look more closely to be sure. Yes, the 2 or 3 row radiators use the same top plate, the 4 core uses a different one. If you have a big block go for the larger radiator, 3 or 4 core. In my part of the country I have problems with the 3 core when the temp gets up close to 100. I converted my drivers to 4 core although the top plates are going for gold plated prices now. John

Thanks for answering. Got those 70 grilles installed yet?
Could anyone provide me with the measurement of the opening that the rubber insulators set in for a 4 row core? In other words, before buying one I found, I need to be sure what the seller has fits a 4 row core. Thanks to anyone who can help me. |

I uploaded some photos to my photobucket site of the 4 core top plate. Check out the photos and let me know if this answers your question. John

Glad to help out. BTW the grills are still in your box in the back of the garage waiting for me to pull the car apart for painting... hopefully this summer! John
