What is the paint color for hood hinges

We are restoring a '72 442 and I would like to know what the color of the hood hinges and spring are from the factory.

The manual I got for restoring your Muscle car states that GM A bodies used either Natural Metal or Gray Oxide for the hinges and spring.

I tried Eastwood Detail Gray and it appears to be to light a shade of Gray.

Any help is appreciated.

Dont know about the 72 hinges but my orginal 70 hinges are actually grey phosphate parkerized like the government used on their weapons. I would strip them with paint stripper and that should bring the original coating up or just strip tem and bead blast them dull and clearcoat them

I would think the parkerized gray would be the color . Strip any paint off of them with paint stripper and see whats underneath. Parkerizing will not come off with stripper as it is a chemical process also called phosphating. If it goes to plain steel then prime lightly and paint lightly
