1970 442 W30
Hi Guys
I'am new to this forum and would like to start by saying hello to all. Well I finally done it, bought my friends dads car(1970 442 W30) in mint condition, it still has black paint on the under side. Really can't find rust on this car if I wanted too. This car is near perfect!!!! Anyhow it has this problem, when it sits over nite just can't seem to start it unless gas is poured in the carb. Has anyone seen this and fixed it. Thanks for your time guys. Mike Roy in Canada |

Carb or fuel pump.....
Before you crank it in the morning, remove the air cleaner, look into the carb, and pump the accellerator a few times. If you see gas squirting in, it's probably the fuel pump. If there's no gas, it's probably the carb. C.J.

It's also possible that this car has the infamous Qjet leaking well plugs.

poor starting
I removed the air cleaner and pumped the accellerator a few times and no gas squirting in. I guess the carb(quadra-jet) will need a rebuild along with epoxy on well plugs.
Thanks guys |

If that's the original carb and you have someone else do the work, make sure you get it back...that one's worth some coin. C.J.
