Hi perf camshaft for 400 engine
Hello Im overhaulin my 1966 442 with 400 engine.
I found that my engine is a E block that means it has a 39 degree bank angle. Im triying to find a Hi perf cam for my car (i want a street car) but is getting too dificult for my because all the cams I find fits from 1967 400 engine? The question is 1967 hi perf cam will fit 1966 hi perf cam? or all cams with 39 degree bank angle will fit my car? Also What cam is recommended for the 1966 400? Im looking at crane cam part number is 804541?? thanks Alex |

If you're certain the block is a 39 degree bank angle, then there's no problem with cam selections. Most Olds cams are ground on that angle. It's the 45 degree bank that is somewhat rare and must state this to the manufactuer.
As for a Crane cam #804541, that's a great choice! Call Summit Racing, they'll get it for you. ![]() |

I HIGHLY recomend Engle cams. I bought a 67 442 with a blown engine that had an Engle cam in it. Starting all over, I decided to call Engle to talk shop. I DID NOT have to deal with an automated phone system! The person that answered was knowledgable and was able to determine from the # on the back of the cam that it was custom made by a guy named Oscar. They put me right through to Oscar and he was able to answer all of my carefully thought out questions about degree timing and all the other cam spec stuff. Today I fired up my 442 for the first time with it's new engine and Engle cam and I am one happy dude!! It performs exactly how I wanted!! I have used crane and erson before; I will definitly use Engle again in the future. -The Good Doc O.
