1970 442 olds clam shell mirrors

Is anyone familiar with the clam shell mirror style sold on the 1970 442? If so has anyone ever seen them "sold separately" at a swap meet or a salvage yard or anywhere? My Dad has the 442 but not the stock mirrors and I would like to track down a pair.
thank you for reading

They were only used for one year on the Oldsmobiles, so they're very hard to find. I've been told but not seen myself that the same sport mirrors were used as an option on the first year of Chevy Vegas. Other than that I've not heard of any other application. When they come up on ebay they go for a pretty penny. John

I have a set from a 1970 442 I bought in 1982 for parts - not sure what they're worth. The only other part I have is the glovebox door with the 442 badge on it. The car was black with a black interior so both are ... black.

the parts place is now selling reproductions of the one year only, I saw the ones on Ebay and they looked like 71 - 72, there is another set up there now completely refurbished but again even though it says 70 - 72 lower in the ad they mentioned not a direct replacement for the 70. I'd buy them used from above!!

As noted, the 1970 sport mirrors were one year only and were not used on any other cars. The 71-up mirrors are different. Any ad that list mirrors for 68-72 is completely wrong, because the door contour on the 68-69 cars is different from the 70-72 doors. Unless you get incredibly lucky, expect to pay dearly for used ones. I go incredibly lucky last year at Hershey, when I found an NOS RH 1970 mirror in the box. The seller had no idea what he had, and I stole it.

Does anyone know if there is a part number to verify these 70' only sport mirrors?

I have 406494 for the passenger and 406496 for the driver with remote adjust. I'm not sure if this is for the whole mirror or just the base as these are cast on the base.

No need for a part number if you can see a pic of them....there is no other mirror that looks like the '70 sport mirror.

I'll try to post a couple pics this week.....there is no mistaking them for the others.

several years ago I paid $300 for a nice used pair on ebay. I do know The Parts Place repros aren't bad, but will still need some work to make them nice. I believe they are like $300/pair also.
