Correct hood and paint on 71 442

Hey guys, I am new to this forum but not new to olds. My first car, in 1980, was a 72 Cutlass S that I still wish I had . I am driving a 1980 L82 vette right now and hope to be adding an olds to the garage . I have a question about the correct hood and paint on a 71 442 coupe. I see some have a center stripe down the hood with a louvered hood. This configuration has different stripes on the side of the car than the forced air hood which has the raised part striped along with a similar but different stripe along the sides of the car. Are the hoods and paint sheme optioned differently when they are a 442 as opposed to a 442 with the W-30 option. I am looking at a 71 442 coupe with a correct vin and engine casting number which is currently painted with a stripe down the middle of the hood which has louvers. There are 3 thin stripes along the side of the car. Hope to be an olds owner again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a friend of mine in Austin. You'll find his restoration of a louver hood 71 442 that has won many trophies. He recently bought a one owner original paint 442 that is exactly the same paint stripe scheme.

My Assembly Manual shows exactly the same and the OAI hood paint is as you describe.

Good luck!

Thanks for the confirmation Texasred. It appears that the louvered hoods had a stripe down the middle on the 71 442. If I land this car will post pics and get your opinions. Thanks again
