Of course they did. Haven't you heard of the uber-rare 442 performance delete option? They were installed by shady car lots and uninformed owners when the original long-stroke 400s sent rods thru the block. Hey- like the Chevy crowd is so fond of saying "It's all GM!"
Seriously, no 1968 442 left the factory with a 350. But over the years, when those long-stroke 400s sent their guts thru the cylinder walls, they often got replaced with a 350 or any other Olds engine someone who wanted the car running could lay their hands on. Several years ago a guy here tried to convince me that the 403 in his 68's engine bay was the original engine "I'm telling you man, this engine came with this car!" Yeah, when you bought it... go tell that shat to a Chevy guy, they're gullible.
