Back from the track

I was surprised how well my Olds ran today at the track. The engine is a .030 over 455, 9.5to1, small valve E heads, 3.42 gears, 4 speed M20, The cam is unknown but the lift measures 496 520, Quadrajet carb with the smaller metering rods, original W30 intake manifold, Factory exhaust manifolds with 2.25 mufflers and tail pipes. The clutch was not holding so I had to bypass the water to get a little wheel spin and if the tires hooked the clutch went up in smoke and slipped badly between the gears. My best 60 foot was 2.2
Best run with full exhaust 13.48@103.2MPH

I did the stock drag thing 20 years ago and prefer to run at local muscle car events. You could have run out of gas at the track yesterday. We ran the 71 4 times and had to retire it to save the clutch.
I'll try to get a new avatar pic.
Here's a link to the track yesterday, had to lift the throttle twice to get the clutch to stop slipping, you can hear it in 4th.

Check out my Olds sleeping at the lights. You know your sleeping when the guy beats you with a slower ET. Oh well it's still fun.

I'm a couple blocks SE from 36 and 120. Where you at now? No. St. Paul has a great car show every Friday night. Hundreds of cars show up.

He, he!

I'm just a little ways away- Germany! I'll probably be back in 2012 for my HS reunion, otherwise I've been living in Germany for 35+ YEARS! That's why my monniker is German442- I've found just 1 other 442 in Germany & it's a 455. Hope no one minds this got a little off-topic!

Hmmm, 442 Oldsmobile and the autobahn. That sounds like fun. I got a feeling your not running 4.10 gears in your Olds.
Seeya in a couple years.

Yup!

It's a little different here.....

I run the 442 @ maybe 85mph--- that's enough with the drum brakes, even tho' I put in a dual master cyl setup.
The '92 Camaro I run @ maybe 90, my daily driver (330ci BMW) I drive to work (the stretch to work isn't as crowded as most Autobahns are!) I just put in the cruise control @ 180kph (~113mph) & let 'er go!

Now that sounds like fun! I made a run out to Redfield South dakota and took a back road, I ran @100mph for about 25 miles in a Buick Ultra and that was fun. I did notice my gas mileage went down the toilet.

Ahem!!!! What's gas mileage? I pay about Euro 1.30 per liter here! Seriously, it's a pain, but it's not like I drive the Olds as a daily. I also disconnect the secondaries when I drive the Autobahn. BTW- some say that's not a good idea, not good for the motor. Comments?

If that's the only thing, I can live w/ it! @ ~85 miles per hour temp doesn't go beyond ~ 190. Probably due to the 160 thermostat, the 7 qt oil pan, performance oil & water pump!

Driving has changed here in Minnesota since you lived here. If your heading up north towards Duluth on I35 you better be running 75 to 80mph in the left lane. I drove home from Texas with the cruise set on 78mph in a 96 Buick Roadmaster. I averaged 25 MPG and got as high as 26MPG.
