Alternate location for Tach ??

Looking to relocate this after market tach , but no idea where to put it.
Any ideas or pics to share would be GREATLY appreciated.

I can't put my bezel on for the gauges, and I can't stand it right there.

Why don't you hit the market for a Tic Toc Tac? There are plenty out there for 70-72 that will match your dash.

As I've said a few hundred times before, We all put them on the steering column when I was a teenager. Looked cool at the time.

Yep steering column with large hose clamp or could mount on dash.

I have used the factory clock or fuel pod and gutted them and mounted the tach in the housing in the clock location. Looks almost factory, I have never liked the on the colume look. JKaz

My buddy back in 1980 had his 72 442 with a SunTach2 in the clock location like you have there....no fancy stuff....no shift lites.....but it looks right.....due to the period of time. I ended up doing mine the exact same way...but with a twist....they now have 1 with white face. Which very nicely matches my interior as you can tell by the pic. And I got it from Autozone. The car has a lot of aftermarket goodies so the tach really doesn't take much away from it. Oldsdroptop....

A standard 3 3/4" tach fits fine in the clock location. I fashioned a bracket using the factor blank as a template. The metal I used came from a large coffee can bottom. Cut proper dia. hole with a punch and Gooped it in place in made bracket that screwed in with stock mounting screws.

The Rallye Pac option also includes the temp, oil and gas gages combined into a separate pod. If you buy them on ebay, you'll pay a lot for OEM used. Fusicks and Parts Place have them new for 429 a set. I personally like the look of the Olds tach/clock as it sits in my car. Takes away the messy clutter of a bolt on.

I just recently realized that The Parts Place is only 40 minutes from my house.
So I went there for the few remaining interior components I needed. I was
using Tamraz which is 45 minutes to an hour away.

When I walked in I saw that they had a shelf FULL of OEM gauges pulled out
of the salvage vehicles they had found. Everything from GTO's , Chevelle's,
442's, etc. So I saw an Olds Tach / Clock......a few of them actually....

I walked up to the manager and I asked them how much were they ???
He told me none of the gauges on that shelf are for sale.
I said well WTF are they sitting out here for ?? I asked if they are
purposely hoarding them so everyone is forced to buy their REPOPS ???

I was kinda pissed off about it. That's shady to sit and buy all the one's from
the boneyards and hoard them with NO OPTION to buy, so you are forced into
buying their repops. I just wanted to let you guys know this when you order parts from them.

Not ONLY That.....but they charge RIDICULOUS amounts of money for their
replacement plastic/chromed dash bezel and woodgrain inlays laser cut that
doesn't even line up.......$130 for the repop bezel and woodgrain and the P.O.S.
doesn't even line up. Then they told me they can't do anything about it!!! Sure....
they can CHARGE you outrageous prices...but God forbid you actually expect it
to line up right without using a dremel to get the pieces to somewhat line up.

I'm with you on this one. Why would theydisplay something they won't sell? That's crazy talk! Heck that's stupid policy. Maybe they have a contest going in the shop to see who will wig out the worst when they say Not For Sale. Me? I'd leave and come back with a big long stick. Then I'd sweep all that OEM off the shelf and let it fall to the floor. If it broke, i wouldn't care because not of it was saleable merchandise anyway

Might be worth your while to try Fusicks. They stand behind their product. I've never had anything to complain about when I ordered from them.

In my Delta I actually screwed it to the dash. I don't recommoned this becasue the tach would ALWAYS work it's way out.

I like it in the dash like that, but I had no way of doing this and keeping the stock dash in my Delta.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably do the hose clamp on the coloum thing
