Opinion on 1966 442 rear 1/4 emblem placement

Any opinions on the placement of the emblems on the rear quarters of the car below? They are clearly placed lower down than I have seen on other cars. What would you conclude from this:

1. Clone?
2. Located improperly after replaced quarters?
3. It IS correct location for some cars (depending on where built?!)
3. Difficult to tell without more info?

Way off, not even close.
1. Possible, Lansing built? (check cowl data plate)
2. Possible, or even after paint if the original holes were filled in. Sloppy work regardless.
3. Absolutely not.
4. Absolutely not. Its wrong, just a question of why.

Could anyone provide some accurate dimensions on the placement of these quarter emblem?

I have lots of pics of cars w/ correct placement, I'm just guessing w/o measurements.

If anyone can help out, Preferably I'd like measurements from rear bodyline edge (bumper crease edge) to rear of emblem, and the lower bodyline edge (above trim piece) to bottom of the emblem.

Thanks-
Ben

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. FWIW, the F85 emblem used exactly the same hole spacing and placement as the 442 emblem on the quarters.

These guys are down in Atlanta with another facility in Charlotte. After a skirmish with them on a 67 Thunderbird a couple years back, my opinion is that you should be very careful dealing with them. They have pretty stuff, but not always on the up and up. On their website they come off as knowledgeable about the cars they're selling, but when pressed, it's obvious a lot of their knowledge comes from the internet.

Is that Bronze a stock color on a 66?

I made up drill template for the staggered emblem holes last night- But i'm still guessing on exact placement of the emblem on the quarter. Distance forward from the rear & distance up from the bodyline crease.

Would really appreciate it if someone could walk out to their car with a tape measure and give me a couple locating dimentions before i start drilling...

Thanks-
Ben

Here ya go.....

From the rearmost point on the Quater Panel - 1st hole is 8 3/4" toward front of car. 2nd hole is 2 3/4" further forward.
From the top of the QP trim piece, Rearmost hole is 3 1/2" above, forward hole is 3" above.
Hope this helps!

Yes. Autumn Bronze code M, 1966 only color.

Also used by Chevrolet as Aztec Bronze, Buick as Riviera Red (Riv-only), and not offered on Pontiac. Cadillac had an Emberglow Firemist that was similar, but different.

May be the lighting but this car looks a little light from what I'm used to seeing as Autumn Bronze.

So who is wrong X4? A question can't be wrong, and I see no answer prior to your post that is wrong.

What IS wrong is I had TWO option 3s (and only the first one can be answered in the negative for certain).

Just a case of over-exuberance about the placement of the emblem, lol. I had never seen one there!

Since you didn't post locating dimensions last week when I asked, you aren't allowed to give negative feedback this week after holes have been drilled

Randy's dims were close, but when i mocked it up, they wound up being slightly crooked and the holes were a hair too close together for the studs- so I modified to my liking & fit. If its not 100% perfect, I'll still sleep tonight. Its a clone/tribute anyway

Honestly, yours still looks pretty close to how mine turned out. If mines off, its only by 1/4 or so. My bumpers up a little tighter to the upper bodyline than yours is, might affect the way it appears.

1" higher on mine would have it edging above the level of the bumper, and thats way too high.

Looks good to me. (but then, I guess it would) Took the dimensions off of my true 442. I think the pics may be a bit deceiving due to the color and shading of the darker car, but IMO they look to be in about the same location on both cars.......

I couldn't post dimensions last week since both of my 66s are 580 miles away.

So I'm guessing the location wouldn't be in the '66 Body Service Manual?
