How have you guys mounted your aftermarket radios?

I'm in the middle of figuring out a clever way of sticking my Pioneer in my '62 without looking like it was stuck there. It won't fit in the dash, I don't feel like building a console (PLEASE STEAL ME!) and the glovebox is too far away!

What have you guys done?

You could be sneaky and stuff one in your ashtray...but then I suspect your '62 ashtray would not be so accommodating.

How about under the dash in an 8 track housing? A member here makes these for 68-72 but you could probably make it work in your 62.

Back in the '70s my uncle added an AM-FM-cassette player to Dad's '70 Supreme. My uncle wired it in and just set it on the floor beneath the drivers seat. Not optimal but it worked very well.

When I took possession of the '70, I added a shaft mount radio in the factory location, then years later I did the same with the '71. I have no worries that someone will try to steal a shaft mount AM-FM-cassette radio out of the dash.

I put a Kenwood marine head unit in the glove box on my 64 F-85.I'm going to use the XM radio app and stream music through my I phone when on a cruise. Or stream Pandora for free.I also reamed out the cigarette lighter hole and installed a USB charging port...Just some ideas...
