Sorry for my ignorance but I'm quite new to some of the terminology associated with transmission. In many of the posts the term slim jim is used. Is this the throttle linkage that affects transmission shift points?

Also, I just ordered a GM Manual for my 1955 Super 88. Will this have instructions on adjusting the throttle linkage?
