1972 442
In 1972 442 was an option package for the Cutlass bodies. There was not a different body VIN like previous years so you cannot tell a 442 by the VIN. The only way to tell for sure is factory paperwork, broadcast/build sheets that were left in the car on the assembly line. Look in the back seat cushions, under the front seat, above the gas tank, under the dash, a pillars covers, etc. These are possible locations, not guaranteed to be there. I believe it is W-29 code for 442 appearance package. Other poossible signs are boxed rear control arms and rear sway bar and 442 trim which of course could have all been added on later. Paperwork is the key. Also, you could have a 2 bbl. carb because the 442 package could be added to any 2 door cutlass.
