Hi just showing my cutlass supreme -69 and some questions.

Hi iam from sweden so my english is what it is
just wanted to show my car and ask a few questions..

a few pics of it..

And now some questions..
my olds 350 engine is sooooo "boring" 0-60mph in 7.5seconds is not that fun...

i was wondering if it is possible to put a chevy small block in my car and use the 350 transmission that i have for my olds engine with the chevy small block?

becouse the chevy performace engines are so much cheaper then the olds performance engine's... its a big difference in the cost... !!

thats all for now ... /marcus

Pretty car. It would be a shame to screw it up with a Chebby motor.

The swap can be done (the Cutlass and Chevelle use the same frame) but the items you would need to change are numerous. For starters, you would need a new trans (the bolt pattern is different), flywheel, motor mounts, frame mounts, accessory brackets, exhaust manifolds, etc, etc. Here in the U.S., this hardware can be found fairly easily. In your case, you will likely spend more money chasing down all these small parts than it would cost to upgrade your Olds motor. The Olds 350 put out 325 HP in the W-31 version.

Yes, it's virtually a bolt-in. The TH350 will live for a while, depending on how hard you beat on it.

do i need new transmissions mounts to change the trans to a th400 instead? or do they use the same mounts as my 350 in the car?

or are the some other way to make the 350 trans survive the torque of a big 455 engine?

The TH400 was a factory available option in your car. The frame is already drilled for the crossmember in the appropriate location. The problem with swapping the trans is that you'll need a different front yoke for the driveshaft and a shorter TH400 driveshaft. Also, since the crossmember moves, the front and middle emergency brake cables must be changed.

The TH350 can be built to live behind the 455. It actually has less internal drag than a TH400 and is often used by drag racers for this reason.

I don't know anything about the motor but just wanted to say you have a beautiful car. I like the color too. I wish my 69 looked like that !

A TH350 doesn't need a lot of work to stand up behind a mild 455.

The biggest thing that kills a trans is torque and traction. You can have one and not the other and even a stock trans will live. I always throw in at least a good shift kit and external cooler which will make any trans last much longer.

Very, very nice! That pleated pattern is much better than the original, somehow the original looks like it should be two seat-backs with that center panel the way it was, looked weird to me.

Nice car! Good luck with it. I'd post pics of my 69 but it would only be the "before" shots as I am still working on the "after"!
