re-chroming 442 bumper?
re-chroming 442 bumper?
My '72 Supreme convertible has the standard rear bumper in good shape, but I also have an original 442 bumper (with the exhaust cutouts). It is a little bent right in the middle. Does anyone know (ballpark) what it would cost to get one of these straightened and re-chromed? I like the look, but I don't know if the cost would justify what little value it would add to the car. I have the same dilemma with the getting the Rallye Pak (now in a box in my attic) installed. Looks good, but likely darned expensive!!
Bumpers done in FL range from 500 thru 850 to straighten and rechrome for. Show chrome 5 plates is more pricey that the standard 3 triple plating. The EPA is making it tougher for chrome platers to stay in business.
I had both of my bumpers rechromed by D.C, Bumper Exchange in Houston, where I live, The rear bumper was bent,it cost me exactly 304.00 to have it done, and it looks brand new! The front was also done by them at a cost of 274.00 and it also came back looking brand new. The only thing about the job was that it took about 6 weeks for me to get it back but it was well worth it. If you want a new bumper you can try Fusick at a cost of 385.00
check out www.chromeguy there in california i sent both front and back bumpers from my 68 cutlass $425 front $475 rear cheaper if you send them your core mine were $600 for both including shipping from fl It took about three weeks and they came back flawless show quality highly recomend them
