Production numbers

According to my Oldsmobile 100th anniversary book (SETTING THE PACE), they produced 2883 Delta 88 Royal convertibles in 1971.

That is such a sweet book! My dad owns it...is it still in publication because I would like my own copy since I moved out...

100th anniversary

Not sure, but I am sure you can find one. I received my book from Oldsmobile one year for earning Oldsmobile Master Technician status. Its the best award I ever received in my 20 years as a GM tec.

Sad to say, but most of our B bodies (88 and 98) are not too collectable except for maybe the convertables that are still in excellent unrestored condition. As for where they may be, the survivors would probably be in the likely places, the dry desert areas or perhaps in a collector's air temperature and humidity controlled barn. But those would be expensive and not as good a deal as far as investment goes.
