Sounds like you have already been doing some homework! If you massage the intake ports of the heads, radius a few curves, lower the deck a little and un-shroud the valve guide area some it should definitely help. I am curious about your big block now, tell me more about the camshaft selection and how you found those E heads. The 455 I am going to use in my '48 has a pretty nice set of C heads. Anyway, keep us posted.
