I test fit my Thorley headers today and there is about 1/4"-3/8" gap between the header tube and the oil filter. Is this OK? It will spin on and off OK but I'm worried about heat. I was thinking I could possibly run a slightly smaller diameter filter (if an off the shelf one exists), or run a remote filter assembly. I'd prefer to keep the existing set-up. Is it OK to run as-is? Does anyone know of a slightly smaller filter I can run on the stock mounting point? What do you recommend?
