Yes, you are describing the Chevrolet Cowl Induction. I know they were on the Chevelle SS models around '68 to '71 maybe but don't quote me on that. I am sure about the name though. You might find a replica hood to fit your model car, again, I would try one of the catalogs like Jegs or Summit as they cater to the muscle car era.
