The lip is the Chrome Bar some call it the Hood bar. It's at the front of the hood when you close the hood you will use the lipe to close it.

This is a very old thread but I may end up with an extra after the replacement hood is installed. The one on my damaged hood is perfect but I don't know what the condition of the new hood is, I've only seen pictures, but the best one is going on my car if the other one is usable I will let you know...Tedd

Sounds very high to me, I would think $500- 600 for the whole hood.My new hood is in at the body shop as we speak(write) if you can hold off till Monday evening I will look at it and see if the one on it is usable or even there. I only bought the sheet metal, bare hood, but the picture of it before I bought it showed it with trim on it, they might have left everything together.... Tedd

yea i can hold off. just let me know, the guy originally had some crappy piece made to mimick it but it sits too low. Just let me know! My hood is about to go to the shop. It sits kinda wonky. passenger side of the hood at the rear kinda sticks up. When it closes it hits the driver side in the front then sits down. Hope it just needs to be adjusted!

Unfortunately, this is the going rate - these are getting very hard to find...I spent almost that getting one fixed and chromed and it still is only driver quality - if you have a lead on one for that price, and it's straight and not pinholed, I'd consider it...that piece, and the two fender extensions / 'eyebrow' chrome pieces I've found to be about a 1/2 step away from "unobtanium" - Saw a set of those fender pieces go off on evil bay for a G-note not too long ago.

Sorry it is gone and has probably come off in pieces.

Have you tried Big M vintage car parts? John had two hoods that were bent up but I didn't ask about condition of the hood lips, You never know ...Tedd

Big M 530-473-2225

PS if the (wonkyness) is not a weak spring some of it can be adjusted out from inside of the driver's compartment(both sides ) where the hing bracket to cowl bolts are located. This adjustment is best done if the springs are not attached.

I thought my hood was bent as one corner stuck up a bit when the hood as closed. After looking at it, I notice several spot welds broke around the hood hinge area allowing the hood to spring up a little. I was able to squeeze it back in place with clamps and weld it up.
