1990 olds 88 HESITATES

I Have A 1990 88 3.8 Eng 62000 Miles, I Have Changed The Plugs, Wires, Fuel Flt,ect. The Car Feels Like It Has No Power When You First Hit Acc Pedal ,then Surges With Power, Anyone Know What This Can Be Or What Part I Can Try To Change. Thanks

I dont know about newer cars, but if it were mine I would get the fuel injection cleaned and that should do the trick for you, let me know how it goes.

I would bet you will need to replace your throttle position sensor (TPS). But instead of just putting parts on your car hoping for the best... PLEASE go to a quality shop and pay for a diagnosis. Yes you will spend about $60 for the privilege but you will save money in the long run.

I have never herd of a tps, What exactly does it do, I would like to learn more, I don't know much about newer cars.

The TPS is nothing more than a sensor that looks at how much throttle you are using. If you were to push down on the gas the TPS will send a signal to the computer saying in effect "Hey, the driver wants to go faster you might want to add fuel and advance the timing..."

I Replaced The Pigtail And The Tps I Still Have The Same Problem. I Set The Volts At .50 Key On Eng Off Is That Correct Any Other Suggestions. Thanks

If it was a carb I would say it was an accelerator pump, I would do a vaccum test if you can? I would also get it cleaned.
