1990 olds 88 HESITATES
I Have A 1990 88 3.8 Eng 62000 Miles, I Have Changed The Plugs, Wires, Fuel Flt,ect. The Car Feels Like It Has No Power When You First Hit Acc Pedal ,then Surges With Power, Anyone Know What This Can Be Or What Part I Can Try To Change. Thanks
I would bet you will need to replace your throttle position sensor (TPS). But instead of just putting parts on your car hoping for the best... PLEASE go to a quality shop and pay for a diagnosis. Yes you will spend about $60 for the privilege but you will save money in the long run.
The TPS is nothing more than a sensor that looks at how much throttle you are using. If you were to push down on the gas the TPS will send a signal to the computer saying in effect "Hey, the driver wants to go faster you might want to add fuel and advance the timing..."
Here is a very good article about the basic operation of a modern fuel injection system.
