68 Coronet R/T

I wouldn't mind having my 66 Cutlass (that I put a 455 into) back or my 79 Formula (that I put a 455 P into) back. But I'd love to have my 71 Lincoln Mk III back. I could stare at that car for hours.

 

I've had a few cars I wish I had back but I kept the 2nd car I ever got, a 63 Riviera. It was my grandparents 1st new car they ever bought. When I got it it had 50k miles on it and still all original. I have owned it for 23 years, and I never plan on getting rid of it.

 

I sold my 1956 Porsche 356A 1600 Super with factory sunroof for $5,600 back in 1981. What would that be worth now??
Also a couple of split window Kombi vans, one camper and one panel van. They're pulling big bucks these days too.

 

I miss the days when I would have five gto 4spd convertibles ...

Back in 1980 I bought a 1970 Cutlass S out of Trading Times
for $500.00 Red 2 door HT. Man that car had *****, could smoke
the Snow tires that were on it for a 1/4 block. Had overheating
problems, so i sold it for $750.00. I cried every time I saw her
driving down Archer Ave in the City for years after. It had 54K
when I bought it.

 

My best friend had a 65 Valiant barracuda and it had that big back window plus the 273. I remember seeing another one that was a much larger car and it had an even larger longer back window but I don't know what year that was. maybe around a 68 or 69?

 

Here goes-1)My 1968 H/O-bought for $200 in 1982,financial problems forced its sale several years later;2)1963 light blue 98 conv't-a rust free Oklahoma car bought in NY in the mid 70's for $50 and driven home;3)1968 Ford Torino GT fastback-black w/red reflective c stripe,428 4sp.Most of all, though not a lost car but a lost opportunity,my 1957 88 Holiday Coupe.I'm embarassed to say I let it go past the point of resurrection-I wish I could have the time back!

 

1970 duster 340 lemon twist wasn't my first car or my fastest but man did i have some fun in it. Some-days in the drivers seat and some days the back

 

I still totally regretted for donating my 74 Cutlass Supreme to charity. I had it for 10 years and i never ever had a problem with it. My replacement is a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville that has a factory supercharger. This is the worst car i ever own. I had nothing but problems for 5 months and i donated to the same charity. I called the charity to see if i could buy the Cutlass back but it was too late. Ever seen a grown man cry???

 

wow, I guess in some ways I am lucky, was too young to buy in the late 60's early 70s and about time I made enough money to buy a decent car in the 90's I was already married with children so priorities meant a safe family car which then meant when it was time to get a car I really wanted I bought the 442 I still own today 15 years later.

There are a few cars I wish I bought. in 1990 I sold a 1970 Buick Wildcat to a guy going to body shop school, when he was done repairing it he offered to sell it back to me for the same price I sold it to him for, I wish did that.

The 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible I saw for sale in 86 or 87, would have been nice to buy for 25k but I didn't have 1k for a car let a lone 25k, and who would have known. If we knew, all of us would have had a collection of W30s/hemis etc, heck how many 302 Mustangs for relatively cheap until recently

 

Well.... I've owned over 30 cars thru the years, but the one that wins hands down is the 1st car I bought new & the one that started it all:

A '65 Olds Cutlass 442 holiday coupe in Burgandy red! I got to keep it for 8 mo., had to give it up 'cause Uncle Sam decided he needed me. The memory of that car stayed with me over the years & I finally "rewarded" myself Feb 2008 with the 442 in my avatar!

That truly is sad. I love the mopars...a 1969 Roadrunner 440 six pack with 4 speed is my second favorite car, second to the ninety-eight.
You will feel for my uncle...he owned an ORIGINAL 1970 SUPERBIRD in the mid/late seventies in high school. It was beat up from a front-end collision (with a phone pole I beleive) so he bought it cheap. He fixed it up and went for a ride and found out the frame was bent, so he sold it.
I've seen 'em go for 150-200K.
Sad to say the least.

 

Meany cars I want back but the 67 chevelle SS still haunts me. 427-black w/gold int. I drooled on it in high school then bout it when I was 25 , a few yesrs after I sold it I could have had the shell back for 500 bucks , and I passed !!

I lost count of all the cars after about 20...but I would have to say I wish I had my 62 Pontiac Laurentian 2 dr Ht...Love those body lines...Would jump on another 62 if I could find one that was nice...

 

58 Chev Delray business coupe. Had it in high school. Someone had put a Corvette 283 in it. Ran like a scalded onion. My old man made me sell it when I went off to college. Actually, the car itself wasn't so special, but the events which took place within its vinyl-seat-cover, rubber floormat, cardboard sunvisor confines were what I miss.

 

In high school I had a '71 442. It was a bench seat column shift car but it did have PW, PDL, tilt & cruise & was blue with white stripes & blue interior. I sold it after I blew the 2nd engine & it got parted out.

 

Funny you mention the 442...my neighbor had a yellow 442 convertible from the late 60's/early 70's (console automatic with a 455) in high school, now it's sitting in his back yard and he says he'll fix it up, it's still in pretty good shape, just needs the engine cleaned out/run and a paint job. I only hope I'm around when he decides to fix it up.

 

Why don't you just offer to buy it? Or, failing that, see if he'll let you put it in the for sale section here? There're probably several who'd jump on it!

Trust me I've thought about it, but this guy is the king of pack rats...a nice guy, but still the king of pack rats all the same. I just really don't see him letting this car go. I don't blame him...we're all reminiscing about cars we shouldn't have let go, this guy's just smart!
Anyway, I just bought my 1964 Oldsmobile 98, so I'm a bit tapped out right now. I'll have a 442 someday, though.....

 

If I can jump in as a newbie, it would have to be my 65 442 Holiday coupe. My first "new" car, paid $3600.00 off the showroom floor. Special order Black on Black, close 4 speed, 390 posi. Like I've said before if one can love a car I loved that car. Life took its course with wife, kids, jobs, etc., etc, I know you've all been there. Sold the car for I think around $1200.00. Now just bought a 65 442 convertible, so the dream lives ...........

I wish I kept my 1950 Olds deluxe 88 coupe. I had a 1959 389 pontiac engine with a 55 pontiac slant pan hydro. That thing screamed. Sold it to a guy in oregon for $5,000. It was my first car too.

I've heard 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase IIIs are selling for big bucks.
I saw on YouTube, one fellow was"thinking" of selling his white,unrestored 43, 000 mile 1971 Phase III.

 

lol uhhhhhh with me it would have to be none.... YET!

still got plenty of time to make that mistake lol, thinking about it with the caprice but when its gone i think i would feel it would have been better to keep it lol.

but the history of cars i have owned are:
*2001 mustang v-6 fully loaded (ditched that in 3 months by jumping a driveway and then after about 10 feet in the air she rolled over when she landed lol, walked away from that one)

2000 dodge durango: rusted out and sold to someone at work for 1k. (now theres a hole in the exhaust manifold and he wont fix it lol)

1995 caprice and the 69 H/O in my signature. But the car i wish i coulda bought was a 1968 fully restored 442 that was painted plum crazy purple and had the white stripe down the side, MAN THAT WAS A SEXY CAR!!!!

 

I just don't understand how you could not drive a car like this!!! Get her back!!!

For me it would be my '68 Ford XL fastback. Man, the things her and I did together, and the stories we could tell! I had this while in the Army back in the mid-80s.





But then again, I'd sure like to get my '68 Toro back too. I bought this for $500 back in the '90s, and decided to 'convertiblize' it. Had a TON of fun in this one too. Oh well...it's engine lives on in my '67 442.

1. 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454 (LS-5) Black Cherry with white stripes and a T.H. 400 and Cowl Induction. Traded in on No. 2.

2. 1973 Buick Century Gran Sport 455 (Stage 1) Lapis Blue with black vinyl top and a T.H.400. Sold in 1984.

3. 1971 Cutlass SX Sienna Bronze with a white convertible top. 455 Rocket V-8 and a T.H. 400 All original Arizona car purchased from 2nd owner in 2008.

 

Ha... my brother had a '76 Chevette "Scooter". It was the stripped down version, didn't even have a glove box door. He put on Keystone Classics and a big 'ol stereo system in it and drove it through his college years. Man that thing was cool . When he was home from college for some break I drove it to my high school one Friday. Told everyone I was driving my brothers '76 "Vette". Boy were they surprised When he sold it the ad said "Great 1st car, guaranteed not to get a speeding ticket"

I haven't owned any cars that I would particularly care to have back, but I still think about the one I didn't buy. A nearly perfect black 1966 Corvette convert. black top, red int. A business aquaintance was selling it during a divorce and wanted what he had paid for it a few years earlier, $16,000. In the early 90's 16K for a weekend car was not in the plan and I didn't fully realize what the car was worth. (BJ reminds me every now and then)

Oh well, not letting go of the Cutlass...

 

The car i miss the most is my 1964 Super 88. I loved that car. It drove like a dream! I sold it to my old roommate/bets friend. He ended up screwing me over. Never saw him or the car again.

 

I'd like to have my 68 W30 back. Its been gone for almost 20 years but I think if I had the chance I'd buy it back.
I do regret parting out a half dozen or more SS Chevelles including a 1970 LS6 Chevelle.

 

So I'm talking to a gal in the office last spring who tells me she thinks her boyfriend bought a car off of me. Long story short ,it's the guy I sold my great grandfather's 1949 Ford to , and he still has it and is willing to sell! Flash to today , and having been repurchased is sitting in my garage as if it never left. As the 442 has gone into hibernation , I will spend this winter restoring it to show-room quality.If allowed on an OLDS site , I will post pics as we go.

 

1965 gto had a 389 with a edelbrock intake on it was very similare to my 66 lemans only it had more compression and was a posi. My brothers 71 code 43 442 that he sold for 3000 in the 80's stings a little too .

 

I would like the '67 442 I got as 2nd owner from my older brother back.It was light green,black painted roof,black bucket seat int, no power steering, no power brakes, no console,was a 400 4spd.posi, About the 5th engine I put was a 455. My memory is cloudy enough that I have forgotten that it didn't handle or stop very well. I do still remember the feel of the Hurst "T" handle on the shifter, and the Sun tach on the steering column and the sound of Walker continental glasspaks.

 

I would follow that thread for sure. Another fat-fender car would be welcome, go ahead .
