Sorry guys, I had to post these pics. Saw this gorgeous wagon on ebay and copied some of the pics. She shows so incredibly nice except for the damage on the back. Wish I could afford to rescue her and make her mine. I'm posting the pics for anyone who enjoys just looking, and also for anyone who wants a couple of up close details. I'm keeping them forever in my photobucket acct. Hope she goes to a good home.

Anyone who's interested: here's the ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...=STRK:MEWAX:IT It's currently sitting at 4550.00 which is way under value for the condition this one's in.

Anyway, here's the pics.

If I'm not mistaken that car has been listed before. It didn't seem like the bids did much. Not sure if the market is just bad right now or what. I halfway considered buying it to replace my '01 Suburban, but the wife would have killed me.

Thumbs up

Pretty nice, great pics, I dig the whitewalls with those wheels.
That car is actually very nice for a Vista Cruiser. I would seriously look at it if I were closer, the cars are hardly ever for sale, especially with 455's. It being a two seater is one thing that may be holding the price back, people like that way-back seat.
I haven't seen one that nice looking condition-wise (in pics) for a long time.
I do have the money for my paint job burning a hole in my pocket.

I don't ever remember ever seeing this one but maybe it has been for sale before. There was a yellow one in Texas not too long ago with a 455 but there was rust around the windows. There was another other one from a member in Texas that had the roof rust repaired next to the big Vista window.

If I lived there and bought it I would have "Long Tall Texan" professionally painted on that blank tailgate.

I would be bidding on that one if I did not already have mine. I have less than what is bid now shipped and a reproduction W-25 hood kit. Mine looks bad but there is very little rust. THer reserve is not met yet and bet he is looking for at least 5500.00 for it. Steve

I had emailed the above craigslist guy twice (once through CO PM) and never heard back, so I gave up there. Too iffy if they do not respond.

The ebay one is VERY nice - power windows, too! It looks like it might need seat covers and carpet, but I might be able to do that myself...
I emailed the seller and I will see where the car really is.. Either dallas or mauriceville.

If in Dallas, I might go for it. The reserve is still not met near 5K, so it will be more.
If I do score a Vista, my 86 will then need to go to a new (hopefully good) home...

Same car...

Did some super sleuthing and found that it is this one I saw on ebay earlier this year. I had then asked the seller if I could come see it and was denied by excuses. It was in Arlington then.

It looks like it might have changed hands to someone who was reconditioning it.
I went back through the pictures and ad copy I saved from ebay back then and it is the same car - vins the same to confirm it. He said it was from Ontario, California.

It looks a LOT better now than it did back then - I wonder how the rust repairs to the back windows and front fenders were made... The tailgate was fixed but the bumper dents are still there.

On a 2nd thought, could these two ads be for TWO DIFFERENT cars? After a closer look, the CL car has SSI, sport mirror, and faded wood grain. The eBay car has SSIII, Chrome mirror, and very nice wood grain. Both are rare "U" code cars. Both are from California and now in Texas. So are both ads for the same car or not.

On a side not, eBay recently changed their photo links, making it harder to copy the photos. What is the secret to copy the photos from the auctions now?

The Craigslist car is totally different than the ebay car - it has manual windows, too.

I saw this one ebay car on ebay back in late march of this year. Back then it was in dire need of fixing and resto. It is the same one as that one - sorry for the confusion.

I am now convinced either the same owner / shop has fixed it up or it is at least still in his family.
The odometer has advanced only 35 miles between the 2 ads and he claims to have driven it over 500 miles. Also, the ebay site is the Canadian site. If the repairs and upgrades went well, then it would be more in my skill level to continue the work. It seemed to have come a long way since March.

No secret. In fact any picture showing on a computer can be saved (some just need different methods!).
On ebay, CLICK once the thumbnail on the right of the picture you wish to save (do not just mouse over it). right click "save picture as" and save. OR, the easier way is to click the save button on the little toolbar at the top left of the picture when your cursor is on it. This can be done on the large or small images.
If they try to "copy protect it", then it is obtainable in other methods. Anyone wanting a picture for evil acts will know how to get them - I do not know why they even bother...

I think they are 2 different cars. There's just too much to change.

Hard to copy from ebay? You're kidding right?? No secret. Here's what I do. Go to the ad. Clik on enlarge. That gives you a big window with a preview of what's on the side. Clik one of the pics and it stays in the big window. Right clik your mouse and under all the options, use "save picture as" and specify a location on your pc (like My Pictures) where you want it. You can create a separate file for it later if you want. Most of the pics on ebay are already web sized. To post them on CO, I usually upload them to my photobucket account first. Then I just select the pic, copy it and paste it directly into CO. No URL required unless you want to download the whole album. Anyway, that's my approach and it seems to work just fine. BTW, nothing ebay does for security of posted pictures is really all that protected. Once it hits the web, it's public domain anyway.

Can you find the similarities between these old ebay pics below and the new ones above?
The car almost looks like it got some partial repainting. It has come a long way for sure...

Thanks, I'll try it again. I was trying to save the photos of this convertible for future restoration reference, but for some reason, I could not save any of the pictures of this car:

Worked fine for me using the directions I gave above. Now whether your PC cooperates is a different story. If java is not working right, then it might not work.

Rob....without a doubt in my mind, it is the same car! Compare the 2() rear bumpers! Why is the woodgrain missing on the tailgate? While all the rest is new!! The rear strorage in the floor and spare tire area, if he put bedliner in there, was done for one reason only, it is swiss cheese! Guaranteed to have holes! Still a must see in person, if they did a decent enough job on the rest, still good for 5K......

Also note that the front bumper has changed. The prior pic has bumper guards, the new one does not. If someone is going the long route to change this car for sale, I think the reserve is way higher than 5,000.00

SS11 wheels are not that expensive. I did a little research on the web and there are repro woodgrains for this model. I can't imagine what kind of headache it would be to take off the old and replace the new. The rear bumper? Why in God's name wouldn't that have been fixed and re-chromed?

Either these are 2 separate cars that have both been hit the same way on the back end, or someone is going to a lot of trouble with eye candy to hide a previous listing. I don't know much about VCs except that I wish I had one. Even if it's a "fakeroo switcheroo", someone has done a lot to make this car look presentable for sale. If I was just surfing ebay looking for one and didn't know about CO, I'd probably be trusting that this was the real mc coy. That patch in the wheel well did set off an alarm bell in my head when I first saw it. But based on what the rest of the car looked like, the explanation for it seemed reasonable. It would be easy to see from below, unless they've coated the bottom too.

I had no idea that posting these pictures would bring up such a discussion. I am definitely keeping the pictures for future reference, and will also keep a record of the VIN and options.

This is the same car, as the vin was the same. I copied the March ebay listing text.
The seller responded and said the car is in Mauriceville, TX - close too the Gulf. He said he bought it from a guy in Arlington (makes sense a little). He trailered it given the mileage differences. Why he said he drove it 500 miles makes no sense though.
I have more pics and the old ad text if anyone is interested.
Since it is so far away, I will not pursue it - I'm done. I need something with excellent paint and body anyway and it can wait.
