This is to daverbmxer. Getting into an aviation career weather it be flying or fixin' is a good thing. Not only is it fun, but rewarding. Don't look forward to getting rich, though. My mother taught me the basics of flying starting when I was 8. I took ground school at 15 and soloed at 16. I entered the Air Force and got the job I wanted...airframe repair. When I got out of the AF I worked at a small airport working on civilian aircraft while doing odd jobs in exchange for flying time. I would tool around on my lunch hour over the lakes. Don't let it get to be such a burden as to where it is not fun any more.
By the way, the AF GI bill paid for my college where I was able to earn an AA degree and a BA in education. I am now on a VA disability and am trying to keep an old 1984 Delta 88 together.
