58 and a Post ***** ..

I'm currently Vet Pension, which leaves li'l for the Money Pit...

I've rotisserized my share of cars ...

My current project is a '70 442. I was going to buy a '72 'vert but my friend said I could buy the 442 ...

I've been driving and fixing this car and that is a fine way to go ...

This is the first car I've had where everybody looks at it ...

I am not the fastest but I'm just working on cutting a fine light . Everyone likes to race my car though...

A Jap pulled out of a parking space and totalled my Olds ...

Lucky it was my sacrificial 96 cut cieera , which is still drivable and should provide the dough for a fresh mill ...

I've tried to get away from Oldsmobiles and get involved with the 53-56 Mercury Monterey. But Olds won out once again! There's something about those J2 Rocket Super 88's that draw me in, as well as the 442's and other Olds muscle cars out there. They are simply beautiful precision machines.

I also own a 2001 Aurora, and hope that someday it too will be a car to remember, as Old's last flagship. Have been interested in cars since high school - some 40+ years. Am an amateur at engine repair, but am learning and re-learning as I go. Am retired from a career with the telephone company and now enjoying life as a car enthusiast. I'm finding out how exacting this hobby can be. Important to be absolutely correct in what you are doing on a project in order for the best possible results.

Other vehicle owned: 2002 Ford F250 Diesel truck.

Hi all,

I got started on cars at 14, by my sisters boyfriend, Ed. He took the time to show me the basics and let me watch over his shoulder rebuilding an engine, and working on his 69 Camaro. It was great to see how things work, go together and how much of an improvement the mods made. I was bitten by the hot rod fever, and since then I have never really went astray.

Over the years I've owned several different makes, mostly chevy, some AMC's and the stray chrysler product. The killer Olds I had, was a 79 Cutlass, which me and a friend dropped a 455/TH400 in place of the wheezing 260. Amazing difference.. and it was a 76 smogger motor.

Then came the kids.. and my newfound appreciation of 4 door cars.. [got into the whole 4 door Impala and Caprice thing for years.. I went the "Blues Brothers" route.. cop shocks, cop suspension, hot motor, all the HD parts, big brakes, 3.42 posi, coolers, spot light too!! etc. I sucessfully engineered a 4 speed stick into my '85 Impala 4 door..fun car!!] ... fast forward almost 20 years to today, Soon, if the snow ever stops here... I'm going to go pick up the 64 F85 I got for peanuts from a young kid.. [he decided to go for the modern little sh*t-box car..]. 4 doors need lovin' too and I've got plans for this car. I can't wait to kick the kids butt off the road in his "old" car...

I'll be 45 years old this year and gas ain't gettin' any cheaper, so another 455 is in my future!! Might as well enjoy things while I can. The kids are grown and in college now, so now it's time for me again. At least I managed to "pass the wrench" to my son, who is into Fox Mustangs. It's nice to help hiim out and help him fix up his car.

As for profession, I used to be an auto mechanic, but went back to school to learn autocad/design. I worked for 13 years in the Civil Engineering/Environmental field. I'm currently unemployed, but going back to school to learn 3D software program and hoping to land a job in alternative energy/solar field.

Sorry for the long post! Hope I didn't put yous to sleep! Cheers! Mike
